“True watch connoisseurs and the elite (really rich) are definitely not buying Rolex watches. It seems to be more of a middle-class reaching upward thing. Rolex is a status symbol for many and that’s a sad fact of overmarketing. Buying a watch for its merits is one thing, but buying it to keep up with the Jones’ is just plain sad. Why be like everyone else – there are plenty of nice, high-end watches out there like Jaeger LeCoultre, Glashutte, Omega, IWC, and others that can be had for the same amount of money and you’ll truly get what you pay for.”
That said, I do enjoy the LV Submariner quite a bit.

Interesting quote. An IWC Ingenieur Chrono can be had at the same price as a sub, actually less (discounting), and uses a Valjoux 7750. The Sub uses an in-house 3135. That said, I love the IWC Ingenieur Chrono. I find that quote a bit pretentious itself, ironic actually. Omega is still mainly using modified ETA movements and is sold in every mall across America. I am just not getting the comparisons given in that quote. All great brands mentioned in my opinion, but the comparisons seem a bit miss guided.
Your Sub LV is the best with the Maxi-Dial, very nice.
